It's been a while ...

Yep!

It's been a while but I thought I'd let you know about an "open to the public" event I'm playing THIS Friday! No it's not instrumental guitar ... not the Oldies favorites ... it's ... wait for it ... COUNTRY! That's right! Country music! I'll be pulling out my third rate Albert Lee licks for my incredibly talented nephew's band THIS Friday night (4-29-11) 7:30, at the Bethlehem Ruitan Club on Manning Road in sufferin', I mean SURPRISING SUFFOLK! Many of you may already know Luke Willett, but if you don't - you need to! He is the best singer in the Hampton Roads area.(IMHO) Come on out and have some fun! They'll sell some soft drink and have some laughs. I played this gig with Luke a year ago and it was really fun. He has a steel guitar player, a drummer and my brother, Art, on bass.

I've been playing lately, but it's been private gigs. Keep me in mine for any events you're planning for the summer!

I played at the Gatling Pointe Yacht Club last night! It Rocked, Baby!
Come on out tonight 8-11 pm to Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant, Smithfield (jazz first set, singing the other two) ... and remember, I'll be playing at Anna's Ristorante Pasta Vino & Pizza (all instrumental) tomorrow Sunday 12:30 - 2:00 after church!

I've seen a rough edit of my new video and am REAL excited to get it out. Luke Rockswold is a crazy good film maker and Laura Gibbs' artwork is beautiful! I hope to post it soon!

A video is a comin'!!!!!!

Yeah!!!!! I worked with an AMAZING film maker today shooting my first music video! Luke Rockswold's talent is nothing short of pure artistry! We shot the footage at the Williamsburg Regional Library and they were a joy to deal with, too! 
I also had the privilege of using Laura Gibbs' beautiful original abstract art work. Many of you may remember the art on the cover of my CD a few years ago ... well, that's Laura's work! Please go to her blog and sign up as a friend. She has her art there as well as shows that she'll be participating in. Go to http://lauragibbs-studio.blogspot.com/ The song we taped today was "Trudy." That's track 6 on my CD if you're following along. I plan to post some pictures of us shooting the video soon. ToniGhT, Wednesday, 26 January, 6p till 9p, Neal’s playing solo at La Hacienda in Surry…yep, Surry! Just follow the Smithfield by-pass road, straight on out from Smithfield for about 20 minutes and you'll see the restaurant on your right when you hit Surry. I know it seems far and gas is high and the weather stinks but ask yourself this burning question ... "What have I done for Neal -LATELY"? Have you bought a CD? Noooooooo. Have you passed along a card to a restaurant owner? Nooooooooo. Come on, MAN!!!!!!

I don't know how I get these gigs ... well this one my friend Win Winslow asked me to fill in, SO I need somebody that lives fairly close, to come on by!!!!!! Win says the food and service is GREAT! Mexican, of course, and who doesn't like Mexican Food! Jeff Norton complains that when all other food is compared to Mexican food he can only eat twice as much as the other ... instead of the usual 5 times as much!!! Now, if you followed ANY of that you are mentally able to appreciate ALL the music tonight! I'll be opening with a long set of the jazz stuff and then playing the Oldies. i.e. singing stuff. SO, its one of those rare times where you'll get a little of everything! Sound fun!? Right?! OK, I'm tired, I can't keep up this kind of hype ...
